This song is such a blessing to us. It is about the children that we weren't able to hold in our arms on this earth, but we know that we sill see them in Heaven and hold them for all eternity in that land where we'll never grow old and where we'll never again have to say goodbye.
Some things in life can really hit you hard. Our arms can positively ache to hold our missing children. Sometimes, the pain (which never really goes away) seems to come back with increased strength, even when you think that it is beginning to subdue.
Thankfully, it is during these difficult seasons of our life that the Lord draws especially close to us and carries us through. During these times in our life, we know as never before that what we believe is true, answers our questions and makes sense. We know that this Jesus we believe in is the real deal, He isn't just a religious hypothesis or hobby that we enjoy for one hour each Sunday. Bless God, this faith of ours, this salvation relationship with Jesus Christ makes sense and it works, especially during the dark times of our life.
Our departed children are still alive, they are still with us in our hearts. When they opened their little eyes in Heaven, the first face that they saw was the face of Jesus. The first step that they took was along the golden streets of the gloryland. The first person whose arms they ran into was the arms of Jesus. It's true, it's just so true and so precious.
Through His strength, we will go on and move forward, pushing ahead in the work to which He has called us until the homecoming day when our entire family will stand united in the Heavenly lands around the throne of the Lamb where "the Lamb is all the glory in Immanuel's land".
The sands of time are sinking,
The dawn of heaven breaks;
The summer morn I’ve sighed for -
The fair, sweet morn awakes:
Dark, dark had been the midnight
But dayspring is at hand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.
The king there in His beauty,
Without a veil is seen:
It were a well-spent journey,
Though seven deaths lay between:
The Lamb with His fair army,
Doth on Mount Zion stand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land
O Christ, He is the fountain,
The deep, sweet well of love!
The streams on earth I’ve tasted
More deep I’ll drink above:
There to an ocean fullness
His mercy doth expand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.
The bride eyes not her garment,
But her dear Bridegroom’s face;
I will not gaze at glory
But on my King of grace.
Not at the crown He giveth
But on His pierced hand;
The Lamb is all the glory
Of Emmanuel’s land.
O I am my Beloved’s
And my Beloved is mine!
He brings a poor vile sinner
Into His house of wine
I stand upon His merit -
I know no other stand,
Not e’en where glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.
I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till rest I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."
Please pray for us. God bless you all.
